[Vnunet] Google has launched a version of its Maps service for mobile phones (Java). The service does not support GPS navigation.
Pretty cool but without GPS, it's useless. And yes, you need to be connected. 1 huge problem here: each GMap page is about 300KB. If you connect over GPRS, forget it. It will cost you a fortune. Over WiFi (for the only few), how do they connect on the move? Hmm ... and forget about downloading maps to use them without being connected to the Internet. It's not possible. Google Maps and satellite imagery are copyrighted. Chances are thus very low that you will use it more than 3 times in your entire life.
